Dutch electricity production falls

The amount of electricity generated in the Netherlands fell for the second successive year in 2006, according to new figures from the national statistics office CBS. As in 2005, power imports were up, the CBS said.


Last year, the Netherlands generated almost 99 billion kWh of power, a 2% drop on 2005. Production at generation plants was down 3% at 67 billion kWh. Decentralised production, such as at greenhouse gardening firms, was up 0.6% at 32 billion kWh
