Deal or no Deal boosts Endemol earnings

Television production company Endemol booked net profits of €22.5m in the first three months of this year. There are no previous year’s figures for comparison.

Turnover was almost €342m, boosted by the success of shows such as Deal or no Deal. The figures have been published because consortium Edam Acquisition has made an offer for all shares outstanding in Endemol. The offer runs from July 5 to August 3.
Edam has already paid €2.6bn for Telefónica’s 75% stake in Endemol. Edam is made up of Mediaset, John de Mol’s investment arm Cyrte and Goldman Sachs.
Telefónica bought Endemol from its founders De Mol and Joop van den Ende for €5.5bn in 2000. It floated a 25% stake in Amsterdam in 2005
