Bike manufacturer Accell benefited from the fine spring weather and an improved product range, boosting earnings from ordinary operations by 35% in the first six months of this year to €16m. Total sales were up over €30m to €275.5m.

The figure includes a provision to pay a price-fixing fine imposed on the company by the competition authority. On Tuesday the court reduced the fine from €11.5m to €4.6m, but Accell denies price-fixing and has six weeks in which to appeal.
