Timberlake signs up Dutch YouTube star

Dutch teenager and YouTube star Esmée Denters is the first signing to Justin Timberlake’s new record label Tennman Records.

The 18-year-old from Oosterbeek near Arnhem, who was rejected when she auditioned for a tv talent show, made a name for herself with her online cover versions of songs by Shakira and Beyoncé.
Recording her singing on a webcam in her bedroom, she opened a YouTube profile late summer 2006 which now now attracts 1.5 million viewers, making it number 22 on the list of most-watched channels.
US gossip king Perez Hilton, whose site gets a million hits a day, describes her as a ‘singing sensation’.
So famous had she become that Justin Timberlake meet her during a recent recording session in London, perfoming backing vocals as she sang his hit What Goes Around. ‘She sings it better than I do,’ said Timberlake afterwards.
Denters is also support act for his concert in Amsterdam on June 16 and will travel with him to Belgium and Scandinavia. ‘Words can’t express how happy I am,’ Denters said. ‘I’ve always dreamed of something like this.’
Her tv talent show rejection puts her in good company. Jennifer Hudson, who was voted off American Idol, went on to make her acting debut in the film Dreamgirls and walked off with an Oscar.
