Portuguese police said on Friday that they had failed to find any sign of missing British toddler Madeleine McCann at the site indicated in an anonymous letter sent to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
Police had sealed off the area shown on a map sent to the paper earlier this week and searched it with dogs.
Meanwhile, the toddler’s parents condemned the media coverage surrounding the Dutch letter as ‘insensitive and cruel’. The letter was being reported on before police had even establish its credibility, Gerry McCann wrote on the findmadeleine.com website.
