Orange youngsters not so green

The Dutch Under-21 football team qualified for next year’s Olympic Games on Wednesday night after beating Portugal 2-1 in Groningen.


It was Jong Oranje’s second win in the group phase of the U-21 European Championship currently being held in stadiums around the country, and ensures the youngsters a place in the semi-final.
Ryan Babel scored a first-half penalty and Maceo Rigters made it 2-0 after the break. Portugal’s goal came from Miguel Veloso.
Added to the 1-0 win over Israel on Sunday, with a last group match against Belgium on Saturday, Holland are assured a place in the semi final, which brings with it automatic qualification for the Beijing games next summer.
