One dead in Alkmaar railway shooting

Police have confirmed that one person was killed and another seriously injured during a shooting incident at Alkmaar railway station on Monday morning.


ANP reported that the station was evacuated by police after shots were fired just before 11am. All trains into Alkmaar were suspended until early afternoon.
According to the Telegraaf website, a Turkish man opened fire on a young woman on an escalator and then tried to kill himself. The man was taken to hospital. Around 20 passengers witnessed the drama, the Telegraaf said.
