Internet telephony up 17% in first quarter

The number of Dutch internet callers rose 17% to over two million in the first quarter resulting in an almost total stagnation in the growth of traditional telephony, according to research bureau Telecompaper.

But the expected three million target for the end of the year will probably not be met, Telecompaper said. KPN has 30% of the internet phone market, followed by Chello (19%) and Casema (12%).
