High schools and colleges get richer
The assets held by Holland’s secondary schools, training colleges and HBO colleges total €4.3bn, an increase of €1.5bn on eight years ago, according to national statistics office CBS.
Walter Dresscher of teaching union AOB said the increase was the consequence of giving school managers more powers, a situation which should now be reversed. ‘Education is not about shareholders, but about professionals,’ he said.
