Former health minister advises Hungary

Former Dutch health minister Hans Hoogervorst is being paid €30,000 a month to advise the Hungarian government on reforming its health service, news agency ANP reports on Tuesday.

Hoogervorst, from the free-market Liberal party VVD, says the Hungarians are keen to allow people to choose their health insurer, as they do in the Netherlands.
He is also recommending a large number of hospital closures.
