Donner denies golden handshake plans
Social affairs minister Piet Hein Donner wants an open discussion over redundancy laws with unions and employers at the summit planned for next Wednesday, he told MPs during Thursday night’s emergency parliamentary debate.
The cabinet had no concrete proposal, he said, although the topic had been discussed.
Donner had been called to the second chamber to answer to media leaks that the cabinet had indeed reached a conclusion over redundancy rights, in particular the capping of ‘golden handshake’ payments to one year’s salary.
Unions had reacted negatively to the leaked proposals, but Donner said he had no knowledge of any such agreement.
