Court to rule on lottery loser

Judges in Amsterdam will today rule on the case of a woman who claims she has suffered psychological damage by not winning the postcode lottery last year.

The street where Helene de Gier lives in the Brabant town of Heusden won the top prize of €13.9m at the beginning of last year. But De Gier had deliberately not bought a lottery ticket and did not share in the spoils.
She claims that the publicity surrounding the win was an infringement of her right to privacy.
