Consortium formal bid for ABN Amro in July
The consortium of three banks fighting to take over ABN Amro will launch a formal bid in mid-July. The trio, led by Royal Bank of Scotland, said in May they planned to offer over €71bn for the Dutch banking group.
The exact price will depend on RBS’s share price, because the offer is a part-cash part stock deal. The consortium also said all the relevant paperwork will be delivered to the financial sector watchdogs next week.
