Willem-Alexander on flying visit to Uruzgan

Prins Willem-Alexander made a flying visit to the southern Afghan provinces of Uruzgan and Kandahar on Tuesday.

The prince was at Camp Holland in Tarin Kowt and the airport of Kandahar to visit Dutch soldiers stationed there. The prince said he was impressed with the way the soldiers are working under sometimes difficult conditions.
Willem-Alexander, who is accompanied by junior defence minister Cees van der Knaap, arrived in Kabul on Monday where he had talks with general McNeill, commander of the international security assistance force, and with the Dutch ambassador. On Tuesday morning he met the Afghan president Hamid Karzai.
The visit was kept secret until after the prince’s departure.
