Teachers work too long, says union
Teachers in secondary education are being asked to spend too many hours teaching according to the CNV, the Volkskrant reports on Tuesday. The union has been inundated with complaints since the introduction of a minimum number of teaching hours by the previous government.
New education minister Marja van Bijsterveldt supports her predecessor. ‘The minimum of 1040 teaching hours must be given,’ she told the Volkskrant. Schools that miss the target face financial sanctions.
