A Labour (PvdA) MP has called for the reintroduction of special prison uniforms for youngsters held in juvenile detention centres to help stamp out machismo.


Ethnic-minority youths in particular perpetuate their macho culture inside prison because they are allowed to wear brand-name clothes and jewelry, MP Jeroen Dijsselbloem says in today’s Volkskrant. Some 70% of juveniles re-offend within one year.
