Late payments on the rise
The number of households paying bills too late rose to 53% in 2006, up from 51% in the previous year, according to a study by market research company Interview-NSS and debt collectors GGN.
The biggest rise, to 60%, was seen among people whose income has risen the most in the past two years. Only 49% of people whose income has dropped in that same period paid their bills too late.
