Civil service pay stalemate over
Civil service unions are to restart talks with the home affairs ministry on a new pay and conditions package. Members voted to suspend their campaign of industrial action at a stormy meeting last night.
However, the pay deal proposal worked out at informal talks – a 10.5% rise spread over three years three months – came in for hefty criticism during the meeting. In particular, union members were unhappy at the three-year duration.
Formal talks between the two sides, which broke down at the end of last year, will resume on Tuesday.
