Akzo Nobel results better than forecast
Chemicals group Akzo Nobel booked first quarter net profit of €246m, down €3m on the year earlier period. Analysts had forecast a much bigger decline to €211m.
Sales were up from €2.47bn to €2.5bn. Akzo Nobel, which sold its pharmaceuticals arm Organon at the beginning of this year, said it had increased sales of paints and coatings.
