Tabloids boost Wegener earnings

Publishing group Wegener today announced a rise in profits and a slight fall in turnover for 2006. Net results rose by 39% to €24.2m, due to the switch to tabloid format for the group’s regional papers in the second half of the year.

Turnover was down by 2.3% at €744.7m. Wegener expects the change to tabloid to generate cost savings of €25m.
