Health minister Ab Klink wants immediate action on bar and café ‘happy hours’ after researchers from the University of Twente showed young teenagers were keen to take advantage of the cheaper drinks on offer.

Almost 70% of 14- and 15-year-olds who go out at night said they went to ‘happy hours’ – and 50% said they drank more because it was cheaper. The minister plans to meet bar owners and council officials to discuss the problem.
