Failure to qualify for the Champions League helped Amsterdam club Ajax to a €5.6m loss over the first half of its 2006/07 book year. In addition, income from sponsorship and television rights was also down, ANP reported.


Income from merchandising rose 11%. Overall, net turnover fell 19.6% to €33.9m. Ajax’s early exit from the UEFA Cup will depress earnings in the second half of the year, Ajax said.
