Wessanen sales down on Tree of Life

Food group Wessanen booked sales of €1.59bn last year, down from 2005’s turnover of €1.69bn. Net profit was up €7m at €32m, largely on the sale of the group’s non-branded goods. Turnover in the US was disappointing with the Tree of Life distribution unit failing to hit targets.

Chairman Ad Veenhof said profit margins improved in the final quarter across all four divisions ‘thanks to a better portfolio mix and good cost management’.
