The Iranian ambassador to the Netherlands has described comments by anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders as ‘a direct insult to the holy and ethical values’ of Islam.

Wilders told newspaper De Pers last week that Muslims should tear out half of the pages in the Koran because of the terrible things it contained. Wilders’ words did freedom of speech a poor service, ANP reported the ambassador as saying.
On Monday Wilders decided not to join an upcoming visit by MPs to Pakistan.
