Feyenoord loses ‘Nancy’ appeal

Rotterdam football club Feyenoord has lost its appeal against its exclusion from this season’s UEFA Cup. UEFA threw Feyenoord out of the competition after its fans went on the rampage in Nancy, France in November.

The decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) means English club Tottenham Hotspur gets into the round of 16. ‘This sends out a strong message that acts of violence by fans will be heavily dealt with,’ said UEFA president Michel Platini.
