Arrests after extreme right attack on demo
Some 25 members of an extreme right-wing group were arrested by the police in Uitgeest at the weekend for attacking anti-fascist demonstrators who were protesting about a meeting of the Nationalistic Volksbeweging (National People’s Movement).
A number of people were wounded in the incident.
The mayor of Uitgeest said she had not been able to stop the meeting as the NVB is not a banned organisation. ‘We are seeing an increase in activity by the extreme right,’ a spokesman for the security service AIVD told ANP.
