V&D to make a profit, says departing CEO

After years of losses, department store group V&D will make a profit in its current book year, chairman Dirk Goeminne says in the Financieele Dagblad today. Goeminne announced yesterday he was leaving V&D after almost 10 years.

His place at V&D will be taken by Mark McKeon, formerly COO of the Principles and Warehouse clothing groups.
McKeon is the latest Brit to join the group, the paper says. In February, Nick Wilkinson joins the Maxeda board with special responsibility for the DIY operations. Maxeda (formerly VendexKBB) was delisted by US investment group KKR in 2004.
The group is led by Tony DeNuzio, who earned his spurs at UK supermarket group Asda and Wal-Mart Europe.
