Transport users call for tough line on smartcard
Public transport users organisation ROVER has urged Transport Minister Karla Peijs to get directly involved in the introduction of the new ‘Smartcard’ (OV-chipkaart), which will pay for all tram, bus and metro travel from 2009.
Trials are already underway in several areas but it is very unclear whether a single national system is possible – and the user is likely to face a fare jungle, Rover said.
