Kingfishers make comeback in warm winters

The number of kingfishers in the Netherlands has risen from 150 breeding pairs to several hundred – thanks to a run of mild winters – bird research group Sovon said on Monday. Nevertheless, the species is still highly endangered, Sovon said.
