Heineken and Phillips settle beer row
Beer company Heineken has settled its long-running dispute over patents on home draught beer systems with Philips and rival brewer InBev.
Heineken had accused the Philips/Inbev Perfect Draft system of infringing five patents attached to its own Beertender product. In a short statement, Heineken said the dispute had been resolved in a ‘mutually acceptable manner’ and all legal action had been stopped. No details of the settlement were made public.
ANP said Heineken and Philips had been working together on a home draught beer system until 2002. Beertender was launched in spring 2004, Perfect Draft in 2005.
