Five soldiers wounded in Uruzgan

Five Dutch soldiers serving in Uruzgan, Afghanistan, were injured in an explosion on Friday while they were on patrol. Reports said it appeared a car bomb had gone off in front of their armoured car. Shots were exchanged with rebel militia after the explosion and an Apache helicopter was called in as back up.

The injured were flown to the hospital at the Dutch base in Tarin Kowt. Two are said to have serious facial injuries but are not in a critical condition.
The incident brings the number of Dutch soldiers injured in Afghanistan since the Dutch mission began to seven.
