EU court stops Somali deportation

The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that the Netherlands cannot deport a Somali refugee back to his country, even if parts of Somalia are considered relatively safe by the government.


The court said it gave more weight to refugee organisations which said the man would be in danger if he was sent back. The ruling has considerable implications for Dutch refugee policy which has partly focused on returning rejected asylum seekers to what are the government says are safe areas
