Five child pickpockets, possibly Romanian, who were arrested by Amsterdam police at the weekend are being held in secure accommodation until they can be identified.

‘The children emphasise that they are younger than 12. We have the feeling they have learned their story by heart,’ said a spokesman for the Child Protection Council. Children under 12 cannot be prosecuted in the Netherlands.
