Last-minute shopping for the Sinterklaas celebrations led to 8.5 million direct debit and credit card transactions this weekend, says electronic payment company Equens. Saturday was the busiest day, with seven million transactions but Sunday trading was up 20% on a normal day, a spokeswoman said.
