Retirement age ‘old-fashioned’

The official retirement age of 65 is an old-fashioned concept and does not take the health of different groups of people into account, says Jan Donselaar of Actuarieel Genootschap (Actuarial Association).


Speaking at a BNR Nieuwsradio debate last night, Donselaar said people with a high income had an average of 10 healthy years to go beyond the age of 65, while the health of poorer people was starting to degenerate then.
