Chinese rescue for Nedcar?

The Netherland’s only car maker Nedcar is the takeover target of a Chinese consortium, the Telegraaf reports today. The paper quotes ‘well-informed sources’ as saying the consortium is thinking of using the Maastricht-based plant to develop a new car for the European market.

Nedcar has been in trouble in recent years after several car makers pulled out. It now only builds the Mitsubishi Colt. Production of the Smart Forfour was halted earlier this year.
