Amsterdam back to court over Schiphol
Amsterdam city council is to appeal against the royal decree annulling its veto of the privatisation of Schiphol airport. Finance minister Gerrit Zalm had the council’s veto overturned on Friday. Amsterdam owns some 20% of Schiphol shares.

The government wants to sell 49% of its shares in the airport. ‘This is an abuse of state power, and we will appeal,’ said Amsterdam’s economic affairs executive Lodewijk Asscher. The appeal will take several months and is unlikely to be completed before a new government is formed.
