Free kidney health test for home use

The Kidney Foundation is today launching a campaign for a free home kit to test for early signs of kidney disease. One in 200 Dutch people have symptoms of kidney malfunctioning without being aware of it.

The kit consists of three yellow strips which have to be dipped into urine. The public is advised to consult a doctor if two of the three strips turn green. The Kidney Foundation is investing €1.2 mln for the campaign. Kidney dialysis costs the government €55,000 per patient per year.
