Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek is heading for Manchester United on a five year contract for a fee of some €45m.

Van de Beek, 23, still has to go through a medical and agree personal terms, but the deal is virtually done, the Telegraaf reported. He did not take part in Ajax’ two friendlies this weekend.

The Dutch international had also been linked to Real Madrid and Barcelona. Van de Beek was an Ajax youth player and joined the top team in 2015.

In May, Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar confirmed that Van de Beek would be allowed to leave the club for the right price, having waited for a year following the departures of Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong.

Defenders Sergiño Dest, Nicolas Tagliáfico and goalkeeper André Onana are also thought to be looking for a move.
