Sex clubs have seen a gap in the entertainment market and are staying open despite the coronavirus crackdown measures.

André van Dorst, director of the VER union for ‘relaxation’ companies, reportedly told the Telegraaf that most sex clubs, erotic massage salons and escort businesses would remain open.

‘There are two aspects,’ he reportedly said. ‘Of course, customers stay away if they are sick. But there are plenty of customers who just keep coming.’

He said that although there has been a slight reduction in turnover in the first three months of the year, this is a normal, seasonal trend and cannot be linked to the coronavirus. However, due to the rules banning meetings of more than 100 people, very popular swingers’ clubs will close their doors.

Van Dorst reportedly added that hygiene measures are being stepped up, so a visit to a supermarket was probably more risky. ‘Look, you don’t have to go to a sex company, but everyone has to go to the supermarket to do their shopping because you have to eat,’ he reportedly said. ‘So you’ve got a far higher risk of infection there.’
