Willem II beats AZ on penalties to seize second cup final place
Tilburg football club Willem II beat AZ of Alkmaar on penalties to seal their place in the final of the KNVB Cup competition against Ajax on May 5.
With the score remaining 1-1 after extra time, the match went to penalties, with just three of nine shots at goal hitting home. AZ has lost to Willem II both times in this season’s league competition.
Ajax beat Feyenoord 0-3 to take the other final place on Wednesday evening. Ajax were last in the final in 2014, Willem II in 2004.
