An 83-year-old Dutch woman has escaped a jail sentence in Belgium for swindling several wealthy older men out of money, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.
Astrid J posed as a rich widow in contact advertisements, the paper says. Once she began a relationship with a wealthy widower, she began to get money out of her victims.
J was sentenced to a suspended jail sentence of one year and ordered to repay €122,000 to one of her victims. Her daughter Joan, 42, was also given a suspended jail term of one year.
