Army mums ruling breaks equality law

Defence ministry policy not to send the mothers of young children to war zones breaks equality legislation, the equal opportunities commission said on Monday.


The case was brought by a father of young children who argued it was unfair just to exempt female soldiers from active service if they have children under the age of five.
ome 43,000 men and 4,300 women are currently serving with the Dutch armed forces.
