Losses in primary school finances ‘unavoidable’ says minister

Education minister Marja van Bijsterveldt is not worried that primary school budgets are in the red, she told parliament in a written memo on Thursday.

The minister was reacting to a report showing that primary schools’ financial reserves have gone down by a combined €14m as schools spend more than their budgets allow for, according to news agency ANP.
The minister is of the opinion that shrinking reserves in cash and assets are unavoidable and that schools need to manage this responsibly.
