The public prosecution department in Amsterdam is to prosecute an 85-year-old woman who killed her 47-year-old mentally handicapped daughter last year.

The woman tried to commit suicide after killing her daughter. She ended her daughter’s life because she was worried about what would happen to her when she became too old to act as a full-time carer.
According to local television station AT5, the department decided to take the case to court because of the seriousness of the offence and the need to protect the fundamental rights of weaker groups in society.
