Cable companies told to lower fees

Cable companies may only charge a maximum €8.46 per customer when they allow competitors access to their networks, telecoms watchdog Opta said on Thursday.

From next year, cable firms must open up their networks to new rivals, such as Tele2, Online and YouCa. The cable firms themselves want to charge between €11 and €12 in fees for each subscriber from a rival firm.
Viewers currently pay around €16 a month for a standard analogue package.
