Difficult year for Amsterdam tourism

The number of tourists visiting Amsterdam fell by 19% in the first three months of this year and 9.3% in the second quarter, according to new figures from the city’s tourist board.

The number of people visiting museums fell by 16% in the first three months but actually rose 3.2% in the second quarter.
The board is unable to say how many visitors have actually spent time in the capital, the Financieele Dagblad reports. In 2008, the city was visited by four million people.
