Ministers block ProRail price rise

Railway operator ProRail may not increase its charges by 17%, ministers decided on Friday, reports the Telegraaf.

ProRail said it wanted to increase the fees it charges the NS and other railway operators as part of a more ‘business-like’ approach within the railway sector. ‘It is a stimulus to users to look critically at which services they want to buy in,’ a spokesman said when the increase was announced earlier this year.
NS and ProRail are both 100% state-owned companies.
Instead, ProRail may increase its fees in line with inflation, ministers said.
