Benefit office forgets tax on holiday pay

A mistake by the unemployment benefit office means that 240,000 people may have the wrong income information on their tax form, the AD reports on Monday.

The benefit office under-estimated their income because it forgot to add holiday benefit to the total, the paper says.
This year the tax office introduced a system of automatic tax returns for people with a single source of income, such as social security benefits. These people are affected by the holiday pay mistake and may find themselves having to pay back money, the AD says.
