One in three too old for the job

One in three job applicants believe they have lost out on a vacancy because of age discrimination, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday, quoting a survey by online jobs site Nationale Vacaturebank.

Some 40% of respondents said employers did not react to their application and 13% said they were rejected for being over-qualified for the job.
Of those who did make it to a first interview, 43% complained salary conditions were unclear and 16% felt prospective employers asked questions that were too personal, the paper says.
The site polled 625 job seekers.
